About Dr. Silverman


For over 40 years, Dr. Silverman has provided psychological services to adults, families, adolescents, and children. His specialties include individual psychotherapy, family therapy, psychological assessment, pain management, and stress reduction. He is an expert diagnostician.

Among his many professional activities, Dr. Silverman is the past president of the Florida Psychological Association, the Dade County Psychological Association, and of the Division of Psychotherapy of the American Psychological Association. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association in the fields of Psychotherapy and Health Psychology. In 2011, he was named Psychologist of the Year by the Florida Psychological Association. He is a board certified clinical psychologist and is a Fellow of the Academy of Clinical Psychology. He also was editor of the journal, Psychotherapy for twelve years.

In addition to private practice, Dr. Silverman has been Professor and Chief of Psychology at Emory University Medical School in Atlanta, Chairman of the Psychology Department at Barry University in Miami, Associate Professor at the University of Illinois Medical School in Chicago, and Visiting Professor at Nova Southeastern University.
